Brian Curran has sent along a link to fire photographs taken near the McDonald Observatory, which is operated by the University of Texas. Map at top shows location of the observatory near Ft. Davis. The following link has a number of photos, as per bottom image, that were taken last week.

These were apparently back burns set to protect the observatory from the nearby wildfires.
