A BLOG ABOUT SOUTHWESTERN WEATHER, Welcome to the MadWeather Blog! We have two basic rules for this blog:
WEATHER FORECASTING & OBSERVING, AND OTHER RELATED TOPICS
(1) Debate and discussion should be civil.
(2) Because public discussion, regardless of the topic,
is not very effective if we don't know who is talking to whom,
MadWeather does not accept anonymous posts.

Long-Range Look At Tropics
The GFS ensemble forecasts spin up significant storms a week from now. The disturbance marked by orange cross off of Central America above is forecast by a number of the GFS ensemble members to become Hurricane Marie, and to track west of Baja. Over in the Atlantic Basin the same member (below) also forecasts a hurricane to be approaching the southeast U.S. The GFS tends to over do tropical spin ups, but it is still an interesting an unusual forecast.
