A BLOG ABOUT SOUTHWESTERN WEATHER, Welcome to the MadWeather Blog! We have two basic rules for this blog:
WEATHER FORECASTING & OBSERVING, AND OTHER RELATED TOPICS
(1) Debate and discussion should be civil.
(2) Because public discussion, regardless of the topic,
is not very effective if we don't know who is talking to whom,
MadWeather does not accept anonymous posts.

Down The Tubes Very Quickly
Just a few web cam views to show how quickly things went to hell this morning. Top is view of Catalinas at 8:00 am MST and just above is at 9:00 am. I left on a morning walk at 8:30 am with the sun warm on my back but within 15 minutes clouds had rolled in, and by the time I got back to house at 9:30 am it was raining lightly.
Bottom two images are right around 11:00 am, with the General Store webcam up in Summerhaven showing that it's snowing again there. The cold front passed by here at a bit after 11:00, so the WRF model was a couple of hours too slow in the 06 UTC forecasts. The new 12 UTC WRF-NAM still too slow, but has precipitation amounts up some at low elevations.
