More Urban Predators

John Ferner took these photos of the neighborhood bobcat last evening. Bobcat watched the street for about 5 minutes while reclining on the top of their courtyard wall. He/she was probably waiting for rabbits to hop out into the circle.

Was a very nice sunrise this morning, with scattered middle clouds providing pink, purple, and orange hues - I didn't have my camera, unfortunately. Above shows the Catalinas at 6 am MST (Wednesday, May 21st).
Although the low temperature here at house was 52 F, there were some very cool spots down in the wash where temperatures were down in the 40s F.

Heard some strange bird noises as I approached the Rio Vista Natural Resources Park. There was a great horned owl perched in a dense thicket of trees. The noises were being made by two hawks that were harassing the owl, probably because it was in their "territory." One was a Cooper's Hawk and the other was much larger and was probably one of the red-tailed hawks that nest in a large gum tree a bit to the north down Cactus. Saw at least 3 different kinds of hawks out hunting this morning.
