Fair And Very Dry

Cloud-free skies over the Catalinas this morning. Another chilly morning here at house with low of 27 F. Yesterday the high at airport was 67 F with low of 34 F (versus low here of 28 F).

Nice sunrise colors over Los Angeles this morning, down at bottom.

The TWC sounding this morning was very dry, as per plot above - note PW is only 0.31 cm (slightly more than a tenth of an inch). There are some strong easterly winds at low levels, so some spots may be gusty when it warms up during day.

The 06 UTC GEFS plumes for QPF (above) indicates chances for light showers Thursday night into Friday morning. The spread of the forecasts is large, ranging from no rain to 0.30 inches. The WRF runs at Atmo forecast light, but measurable, precipitation at high elevations, but keep the metro dry with no rain or light sprinkles. The slight rain chances occur as a distinct short wave at 500 mb moves across Arizona during Thursday night (below from ECMWF valid at 5:00 pm MST on Thursday). Model forecasts keep PW less than half an inch through the weekend, so the short wave has little moisture to work with.
