Afternoon Update - 2 July 2012

There was a nice moisture surge from the GoC at Yuma this morning (time series of T and Td above). I think that this is the first serious surge of the summer at Yuma. Heavy storms have been occurring this afternoon along the borderlands and into central Pima County. Skies in the Tucson metro area are overcast with anvil cloud from these storms overhead. A cool and gusty outflow from the storms has moved northeastward across eastern and central portions of the metro area - see 5:45 pm MST surface plot below. There's currently a 20F temperature gradient from west to east across the Tucson area.
