Winds Kick Up Tomorrow

Sunrise colors at 5:30 am MST along I-10 near San Simon (above - a few miles west of the New Mexico border), and Flagstaff at a bit after 6:00 am below. Down at bottom are views of a snowy sunrise in Thornton, Colorado, and of snow falling on Kansas City - winter still hanging on in the central US.

Skies mostly clear this morning over Arizona (above - visible image from 6:51 am). Below is forecast of outgoing longwave radiation (OLR) showing most of state still clear at 4:00 pm this afternoon (from 06 UTC WRF-GFS run at Atmo). Second below is forecast (from same run) of steady wind speeds valid at 2:00 pm tomorrow afternoon - looks like a very windy day for most of state if this forecast verifies (note that 28 kt equals a bit over 32 mph).
