More Hot And Dry

Clear skies over Tucson and the Catalinas as we start a new week.

Plot of TPW (above at 1530 UTC) shows that most of Arizona, the Southwest, and northern Mexico are dominated by very dry air. Cloud cluster off coast of southwest Mexico may develop later this week.

Visible satellite image above shows Tropical Storm Nicholas off the Texas coast. Morning forecast from NHC (below) keeps Nicholas below hurricane strength and takes the storm ashore near Corpus Christi.

Very dry sounding at TUS/TWC with less than an inch PW, no CAPE, and very chopped up winds below 300 mb. Deep residul BL and clear skies will let it warm up quickly today. Outlook for precipitation is grim for rest of month - below is 06 UTC GFS forecast of rainfall through 06 UTC on the 29th.
