Thinking Of Hurricane Camille

I've been looking at the photo in the previous post and remembering Category 5 Hurricane Camille. This storm came ashore during the night of August 17, 1969, near Biloxi, Mississippi. Wind speeds approached 200 mph and damage was extreme. Camille's track is shown below.




Above are before and after photos of an apartment complex where more than 30 people, who refused to evacuate and held a hurricane party, perished.

You'd think we'd learn from the past, but the high-rise condos below look like a line of dominos waiting for the next category 5 hurricane.
