Second February Rain/Snow Event

Pre-sunrise view looking toward Redington Pass at about 6:50 am MST this morning.

The large, 500 mb trough along the West coast is forecast by models to move slowly eastward toward Arizona and Great Basin. The GFS forecast above is valid at 5:00 pm tomorrow afternoon. The 09 UTC WRF-HRRR precipitation forecast (below - valid through noon on Wednesday)  indicates a widespread, significant precipitation event for much of Arizona,

Current NWS forecast for the airport (above) and storm total rainfall outlook (below) indicate the extent of the mid-week event. Note: a color-scale bar (as provided with the Atmo forecast above) would have increased the usefulness of the NWS rain forecast.
