Showers Expected Today

View toward the Rincons at 6:50 am MST this morning.

Models continue to move the large, west coast trough inland over the West. Forecast above is from the 06 UTC GFS and is valid at 18 UTC tomorrow. The trough's slow movement will bring us an extended period of unsettled weather.

The 06 UTC GEFS plumes for QPF at the airport (above) indicate chances for showers through the 11th, with the most significant amounts possible later today and tonight. Note that the average of the plumes reaches one inch. Plumes for temperature (below) indicate a very cool period during the extended showers.

Forecast above (from the 12 UTC WRF-RR run at Atmo) is for accumulated precipitation through 3:00 am on Friday - heaviest amounts focus on the Rim country, but Catalinas and Rincons pick up heavy snows.

The NWS has out a wind advisory for today (along with 60 % POPS) and the same run of the WRF forecasts steady winds getting up to 35 kt this afternoon (below).
