Miscellany - April 3rd, 2012

Chilly and windy, with some dust, the last couple of days. System that came by on Sunday has closed off and slowed down. This morning it is bringing some April snow from Denver area south to Albuquerque. Photo above is of interstates in Albuquerque near the downtown. Here at the house the low yesterday morning was 35F and this morning it was a very chilly 32F.

Table above is of monthly normals for the airport (TUS). Note that we are now in the driest three months of the year. The first three months of 2012 were also quite dry. Here at the house we had 0.27", 0.10", and 0.66" for January, February, and March - total of 1.03" versus the airport normal of 2.53" for the same months. So, it looks like a dry, dusty first half of the year, before the summer thunderstorm season arrives.

Spotted a Cardinal (above) this morning. He has been near Allen and Cactus several mornings during last two weeks. Couple of days ago there was pair of Western Kingbirds down in the wash area between Dodge and Country Club.
