The above graphics are CPC's summer outlooks for temperature (top) and precipitation (bottom). They predict chances for a cooler than usual summer southwest of the Great Lakes and a hotter than usual summer along the Gulf Coast and the Southwest U.S. Their Southwest forecast may be just continuing to play the observed upward trend in minimm temperatures in the Southwest. The precipitation forecast (bottom) actually provides little meaningful information that couldn't be obtained via a coin flip. So, the summer may be hotter than usual here in southeast Arizona and either wet or dry.
