The second tropical storm of the season, Beatriz, developed rapidly today in the eastern Pacific, just off the southwest coast of Mexico (IR image at top at 0000 UTC June 20th). The forecast for Beatriz (below) indicates strengthening to hurricane intensity, as the storm moves northwestward toward Baja. The forecast currently indicates an abrupt turn to the west on Wednesday. But since initial motion is toward the lower GoC, Beatriz could become a wild card in the evoultion of the weather over northwest Mexico next week.
