High Elevation Tornado North Of Flagstaff

David Blanchard reports (on his blog - http://www.dblanchard.net/blog/ ) that a tornado occurred around 5:30 pm MST, 14 September 2011, on the west flank of Humphreys Peak. This peak is the highest in Arizona (elevation 12,637 ft msl), and is located just north of Flagstaff. David reports that damage occurred from around 9,000 to 10,500 ft elevation. Additional information is at:

Some may remember that an outbreak of tornadoes occurred during the early morning hours of 6 October 2010 near Flagstaff. So, Flagstaff (soundings actually at Belmont) may have the two highest elevation, tornado proximity soundings ever taken, and these within a period of less than a year.
