Be a Force of Nature

Be a Force of Nature

Know your risk. Take action. Be an example.

Because a truly Weather-Ready Nation requires the action of each person and community, NOAA’s National Weather Service is calling on all of us to Be a Force of Nature when it comes to extreme weather.
Being a force of nature means never bowing to extreme weather. It means taking appropriate actions before, during and after extreme weather. Even more than that, being a force of nature means inspiring others to do the same through setting an example in your community and social networks.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Continuing along the lines of the previous post. I found a link on the NHC webpage, under "Top News of the Day," that was headlined as per above title - Be a Force of Nature. I of course clicked to see what in the world this meant. I was appalled to see the statement (first two paras of the news story above) advises that people never bow to extreme weather. But then the next sentence contradicts this by advising that people take appropriate action before and during severe weather.

Strange things appear to be going on within NOAA and NWS. It almost seems as if they've hired a PR firm to develop catchy slogans and program names. What next? Perhaps selling sponsorships for various NWS products - e.g., The following Hurricane Warning is sponsored by Home Depot.

Chuck Doswell has a couple of essays on what it would really mean to be a "Weather-Ready" community or Nation - see his blog - link to right.

As for the complete NWS PR story on being a force of nature - click link below.
