High Park Fire Update
Many folks are not aware that the SPC issues wildfire outlooks (this morning's is above) and dry thunderstorm forecasts. The forecast today has become fact, with the High Park fire blowing up again in Colorado. Conditions are quite bad with temperatures very high and dewpoints very low, combined with winds of 30 to 40 mph (3 pm MST surface plot below).
Just talked with my son Jason, who is in Loveland, Colorado. He said there was a huge, and very dark, plume of smoke visible to the north from the fire (see satellite image from 3 pm below). So, a very serious situation again in Colorado, after several days of favorable conditions for the fire fighters.
