Dolores Now A Category 4 Hurricane

Hurricane Dolores has intensified during the night and is now a Cat 4 storm with NHC estimated winds of 115 kts with gusts to 140 kt. Dolores is the third Category 4 hurricane of this season. The water vapor image of the storm above is from 13 UTC this morning and the current NHC track forecast is shown below. The storm will pass close enough to the southern end of Baja to push high PW amounts back into Arizona. The CIRA blended PW analysis at bottom (for 11 UTC) shows that PW is already high up the GoC and into Arizona, so this won't be a classic "surge" but rather a general increase as the storm moves northwestward.
