Storms over higher terrain this afternoon are nearly stationary in radar loops. Visual satellite image above and radar composite below are from 4:45 pm MST. The strong storms from west-southwest to east-northeast of Tucson have produced a wide area of cooler air that may move into the metro area this evening; however, at the current time winds in this cool air are not particularly strong with some gusts reaching around 20 mph , as per MesoWest surface plots. Some of the afternoon runs of the NWS HRRR model indicate another chance of later night/early morning storms over eastern Pima County.
