Fatal wildfires have been burning on the Plains the last two days as strong winds and low RH impacted the region. Grain elevator in Kansas above surrounded by flames yesterday. Just below satellite image from NASA shows two of the early fires on Monday along and just north of Kansas/Oklahoma border. Surface plot at bottom shows conditions yesterday afternoon - note the extremely low dewpoints occurring with the strong winds.
