The 3pm surface plot above shows the warm temperatures in the 80s across the Sonoran Desert today. The high temperature at TUS (the airport) was 84F; breaking the old record (from 1995) of 79F by 5F. Quite something! Here at the house the morning low was 30F, meaning a diurnal range of more than 50F (highs here are usually very close to those at the airport). Again, quite something, especially for the low sun angle we have, only a week away from the winter solstice. Note that the mild airport low was only 42F.
