100 Years Ago - An Unbelievable Day In The Central U.S.

And we think we have crazy weather today? This was an amazing event, and unfortunately tragic for some because many people then had no access to any weather information, and thus were caught away from shelter during the extreme drop in temperature and the rapid onset of cold rain (which turned to sleet and snow very soon after temperatures were in the 70s and even 80s). The second link contains a handwritten log of the weather observations that day (you can click and zoom in somewhat). The temperature drop is astounding: 82 to 30 in Columbia MO in 2 hours.
