Severe Storms Yesterday

Heavy thunderstorm moves into our part of the city at 4:35 pm MST yesterday. The storms produed several wind damage reports. I estimated gusts here at 60 mph, or a bit stronger, around 4:30 pm.

Rains were heavy in places and widespread in northern portion of ALERT network (above). We had 0.82" of rain here (first of the summer!) between 4:30 and a bit after 5:00 pm. Only isolated storms across south half of ALERT network (below). Radar base-scan at about 23:45 UTC (second below) as storm was hitting our part of town.

Morning sounding from TWC/TUS this morning (above) shows a very deep, meso-outflow signture with inverted "V" profile, dry low-levels, and no CAPE. Will be hard for morning conditions to recover enough to support low-elevation storms this afternoon and evening. The 12 UTC forecast from WRF-HRRR (below) at Atmo shows very limited activity in Pima County through noon tomorrow.

Second below shows current morning forecast from the NWS Forecast Office.
