Morning Update

Written this morning but apparently forgot to post!

Tucson composite radar display at 5:30 pm (MST) yesterday afternoon showing severe MCS moving away from the city. The system decayed over central Pima County, and isolated storm activity shifted north toward Phoenix area.
-------------------------------------------------------------------
In the light of day, the rain gauge here shows 0.90". There was rain at 82 of the ALERT gauges (almost 90% coverage); at the low elevation metro gauges there was rainfall measured at all 20 sites. Storms avoided the high elevations of the Catalinas, which seems somewhat unusual. There were 20 ALERT gauges with more than 1/2 an inch, and 2 with more than an inch. Lots of street and sheet flooding in this part of town and so there is a real mess of mud and debris out there. The Rillito is running this morning and it had run bank to bank last evening. Widespread wind damage across ost of the metro area. Small and moderate size limbs down this part of town. A large gum tree (trunk diameter about 18 inches) came down across Country Club a bit north of here. It had been sawed up to open the street. Finally, clouds of flying ants, termites and gnats are out, so a real bonaza for some of the birds and bats. Out to work on the mess here at house.
