According to NHC, Eugene became a Category 4 hurricane this morning (2100 UTC IR image of the storm above). This the third Cat 4 hurricane in the eastern Pacific this season (other two were Adrian and Dora). Eugene is still forecast to head on out into the Pacific, staying south of 20 degrees north until toward the end of its life.
