July 2010 Summary - Here at house rainfall totalled 3.26" - making it the 5th wettest July of the 12 years I've kept records. Rain of 0.10" or more fell on only 4 days and the bulk of the monthly total occurred on two days - the 29th and 30th. Thus what was mostly a very hot and dry month ended up wet. Shrubs and plants are quite happy with the soil moisture and higher humidity. Shown in top image is a Texas variety of purple sage. Mexican rain lilies are also bursting into bloom after the rains.

At TUS rainfall was 2.71" (the 36th wettest July since records were kept here); again with the bulk of the rain falling on just two days. PHX at Sky Harbor ended up with 1.97" (the 13th wettest July on record there); with virtually all of the rain falling on the last two days of the month. Out in Yuma, July brought a only a trace of rain; tied with other Julys having no measurable rainfall. So this month, particularly at low elevations, illustrates well the vagaries of daily weather within the highly variable desert climate regime.
