October Summary

Mike Crimmins' time-series plot of rainfall and temperature at the airport is shown above, and graphically shows just how wet a month October was compared to normal. Mike's cool season plots can be found at:  https://cals.arizona.edu/climate/misc/CoolSeason/CoolSeason_summaries.html

There is a nice summary of the month by John Glueck, NWS, at:

Here at the house, October was the second wettest in my period of record (back to 1999) with 3.25 inches of rain. There thunderstorms on three days and an event on the 13th with more than an inch, most of which fell in a very heavy thunderstorm late that morning. Tropical moisture intrusions related to storms Rosa and Sergio played a significant role in the rainfall in our area.

The three wettest Octobers here have been: 5.06" in 2000; 3.25" this year; and 2.44" in 2015. The years 1999, 2013, and 2017 all came in with 0.00" for October.
