GoC Surges At Yuma

The last seven days at Yuma (time series of T and Td is above) provide a nice example of how difficult it can be to moniter surface observations there to determine, in real-time, if a significant GoC surge of low-level moisture has occurred. Numerous sharp Td jumps (and falls) occurred during the past week, but most of these were transitory - being associated with strong moisture gradients, diurnal wind cycles, and small shifts in wind direction. The jump of Td on Saturday morning persisted across the weekend, into Monday afternoon, probably qualifying as an event. I don't think that there's yet a good, quantitative definition of what exactly is a surge, versus all the other sort-of events that occur at Yuma.
