Cool Start For May

Fronts doing battle over New Mexico this afternoon - one from the west, which brought cooler temperatures to southern Arizona yesterday afternoon and today, is butting into a Canadian front that is pushing westward from Texas across New Mexico - see surface plot for 2100 UTC May 1st (top image). Note the snow observed over southwestern Colorado and northeastern New Mexico. Dewpoints in Arizona are very low, with -3F observed at 2 pm at TUS. Surface winds are forecast to swing to the northeast by tomorrow morning as the eastern front prevails - WRF-NAM Tucson area surface forecast for 9 am tomorrow shown at bottom.
--------------------------------------------------
Was quite cool here at the house this morning with a low of 34F. During all of April there were only three mornings here with lows in the 30s - lowest 32F on the morning of the 11th. One day with rainfall in April - Saturday April 9th with 0.36" here. Primary weather observed in southeastern Arizona for last three months has been wind and dust, now with pollen added to the mix. Gesundheit!
