Thunderstorms In West Yesterday And Look To South Next Week


The plot above shows detected CG flashes over much of the West for 24-hours ending at 9:00 am MST this morning. The lack of thunderstorm activity west of the Continental Divide is quite amazing for August. Most active area past 12 hours or so has been to right of path of Hurricane Harvey.

Meanwhile the 00 UTC run of the WRF-GFS (below on 54. km grid) apparently forecasts a hurricane in southern GoC at 10:00 pm on August 31st.
