Summer Rainfall

Crisp and clear (except for one tiny cloud on Catalinas) morning. Coolest morning of Fall so far with lows across area mostly in mid-50s to around 60 F.

I've used the ALERT data capabilities to plot summer rainfall for the network (i.e., from Mid-June through October 1st). The plots show a generally wet summer for the whole network. There are a few sites with amounts that appear a bit suspect. For example, the 25.16" report from near Picture Rocks and the 5.59" near Drexel Heights (above). Below, the 20.51" near Vail appears high, while the 5.12 " south-southeast of Three Points seems low.

Here at house I measured 12.47" for the period - the highest total in my records, which began in 1999.

The next chances for some rain will occur during the night of the 4th and day of the 5th (i.e., next Monday and Tuesday) - as per GEFS plumes for QPF above. Current forecast from NWS is shown below.
