Warm-Up Later in Week

The Catalinas caught some golden sun late yesterday. Down at bottom is the Big Dipper caught this morning by the Mt. Lemmon SkyCam.

The current drought drags on - above is the drought monitor map issued last Thursday. Almost all of the Southwest is locked in severe, long-term drought.
At 500 mb this morning, a strong short-wave over Utah is digging southeastward across northeastern Arizona - analysis above and forecast for 5:00 pm MST this afternoon below. This feature will bring some gusty northwest winds today.

The GEFS forecast for temperatures at the airport (above) indicates cool through Monday, but then a nice warm-up through rest of next week. The 06 UTC GFS forecast for total precipitation though the 24th of January (below) holds little hope for rain in the gauge here. So it goes.
