The Eastern North Pacific tropical storm season runs from May 15 through November 30 each year. This year there is a large disturbance located near 10 N and 120 W (IR image above from 12 UTC), and the NHC has started issuing outlooks early because of this disturbance (below). This morning's outlook indicates a 40% chance that this system could become a tropical storm.
The names for the first six storms this season will be: Aletta, Bud, Carlotta, Daniel, Emilia, and Fabio. Some of these are familiar from past seasons because the names go through a six-year sequence, and then repeat.
Looking to the Tropics, I grabbed the image below from Jack Hales camera wall yesterday afternoon, which shows the big and small of traffic through the canal.
