Some More Photographs And A Brief Winter Summary

March began on the west side of Loveland, Colorado, (photos above and below all taken on morning of March 1st) somewhat like a lion with near zero cold and some light snow that had been been preceded by freezing mist. Had a terrible time scraping off the car windows on this morning.

Here at the house, winter (December, January, and February) was very dry with a rainfall total of only 0.67 inches. The two main rain events were 0.41" on December 20th and 0.16" on December 5th. So we've had only spits and sputters since before Christmas until the event of March 1st.

Mornings were cold but afternoons most days were very mild. December and January each had morning lows of freezing, or below, on 21 mornings, while March had only 6 such mornings (total of 48 freezes). Low temperatures of 25 F, or colder, occurred on 10 mornings during December and January. Coldest morning low temperature was 21 F on January 6th. Even with these low temperatures, bougainvillea, lantana, and datura managed to keep their leaves, as well as blooms (not datura of course), and did not freeze back to ground level, which is very unusual here on the circle.
