Dry Fall Day

Some fall color at Jackson, Wyoming, golf course this morning. Down at bottom are views of smokey Yosemite N.P. and snow/blowing snow down at the South Pole. All photos from Jack Hales webcam wall - link to the right.

Wide satellite view this morning (above) shows Cat 4 hurricane Maria in the Pacific and TS Gamma near Yucatan.

I show the TWC morning sounding above just because it is so warm and DRY. PW is only 0.90 cm (a bit more than a third of an inch). Temperatures here in Tucson remain summer-like, with highs last two days at airport coming in at 103 F.

The long term forecast for total precipitation (below) is for period extending to 06 UTC on 18 October. Three swaths of heavy precipitation are apparently related to three tropical storms (hurricane Maria the western-most, and eastern Pacific and Gulf of Mexico storms that have yet to develop). Little hope for Arizona until after the middle of October, according to this GFS forecast.
