Hurricane Delta In Gulf Of Mexico

Hurricane Delta has strengthened to a Cat 3 hurricane (winds of 115 mph) as it moved northwestward across the GoM today. The three satellite images here show the storm at 1201 UTC, 2111 UTC, and 2131 UTC.

The ensemble plumes above are from the 12 UTC ECMWF for the track of the hurricane and below is the latest track forecast from the NHC. Hurricane Delta is on a track to come ashore very near where destructive Cat 4 hurricane Laura did, near Lake Charles, Louisiana.
