Clear Skies At Mid-Week

Skies are perfectly clear at mid-morning today, and our long, dry period continues. Down at the bottom the light pylons at LAX were glowing purple before dawn early this morning.

Deep and sharp 500 mb trough still forecast to impact Arizona at end of the week - the GFS forecast above is from the 06 UTC run and is valid at noon on the 9th.

As the trough develops and approaches Arizona, the GEFS ensembles are forecasting the possibility of two periods of showers at the airport. The QPF forecast above from the 06 UTC runs indicating chances for showers on Saturday afternoon and Monday morning. PW is forecast to jump considerably on Friday and Saturday (below).

The forecast for 10 m winds (second below) is from the 06 UTC WRF-GFS run and indicates very strong and gusty winds for our area on Saturday. Temperatures will also plunge relative the upper-80s and low-90s we've been experiencing.
