Dusty Skies Today/Showers Tomorrow?

Dust hangs in the air along the Catalinas this morning, following yesterday's strong winds across Arizona. View of dust and heavy clouds yesterday afternoon is at the bottom.

Showers did develop further south than model predictions yesterday and extended into northern Sonora. A band of showers across Tucson area produced measurable rainfall, mainly over eastern portions of the ALERT network - above and below. Nothing here at house.

At 300 mb (above) this morning a very strong jet max on west side of the closed low over the northwest is causing the system to dig south-southeastward. The 500 mb low (below) will gradually open and move across Arizona tomorrow, perhaps bringing our area some more light showers. The precipitation forecast (second below from the 12 UTC WRF-RR) indicates light precipitation across most of southeastern Arizona. Rain in gauge here would be very welcome!!
