First Freeze Here

Clear skies and chilly temperatures this morning. Precipitation here at house yesterday was 0.15", and morning low was 32 F - the first freezing temperature here of the winter.

The light pylons at LAX (bottom) early this am were showing some red before sunrise today.

Other morning lows shown here - above for metro area and below for southeast Arizona. Quite a few areas below freezing with much of Cochise and Santa Cruz Counties down in the 20s F.

Forecast maximum temperatures on November 17th for the CONUS (above from NWS WPC) indicate unusual warmth continuing through coming week. Note that forecast indicates NO high temperatures below freezing - fairly remarkable for this late in November.

Precipitation outlook below is for next ten days, through midnight on November 20th. Much of the Southwest continues warm and very dry, as it has been through last couple of months.

The Atlantic Basin has had a record number of named storms this season. Graphic below (from NHC this morning)  shows forecast track heading toward the Florida Panhandle. If rain shield is large north and east of the storm, it could impact the Masters golf tournament, which is being played very late this year because of pandemic delays.
