Another Quick Note

Nice view eastward from Mauna Kea early this morning. Lights below on right side are from Hilo. Image from Jack Hales' webcam wall.

Changes for us seem to remain lurking in the model forecasts out about seven days. Above is operational GFS forecast from 00 UTC last evening, valid at 12 UTC on 15 February. A closed low has dug south-southwestward in the forecasts, crossing the West but ending up at this time back out over the east Pacific.

The 00 UTC WRF-GFS forecast from Atmo (below on 5.4 km grid) of PW at 6:00 am MST (13 UTC) forecasts the system to pull a broad plume of higher PW air northward from the tropics.

So something to watch out on the horizons of predictability.
