View of the Catalinas on another mild, winter morning. Image at bottom shows a tranquil, summer day at the South Pole.
January summary for here at house is pretty bland - Rainfall was 0.27" (two light events). This makes total rainfall here since 13 August 2017 a measly 1.02". This January was a tie for fourth driest here in past 19 years - three different years saw January come in with 0.27".
There were only 5 days here with freezing or below; coldest was 20 F on 23 January.
Graphic below shows ALERT total precipitation for past 30 days. The month was very dry, except for the region west to north Catalinas. There are several suspect gauge reports. The "test" station near the University with 3.58" has obvious problems - a check shows that total amount occurred on February 1st. The two reports over half an inch southwest of the airport are also very suspect wet outliers.
