View looking toward the Rincons at about 7:00 am MST this morning.
Plot of detected CG flashes (from Atmo and Vaisala) above for 24 hours ending about 8:00 am shows a fair amount of storm activity scattered about eastern Pima County - more than I expected. There was a rumble of thunder here at the house about 4:30 pm, but not a drop of rain.
Plot below shows 24-hour precipitation across the metro area (from MesoWest, Univ. of Utah) ending at 8:00 am. There were only isolated light amounts recorded, except at the airport, which had 0.17".
At 500 (above) the anticyclone is very elongated west-to-east, with circulation centers over New Mexico and also southeastern Oklahoma. The morning sounding from TWC/TUS (below) shows that some drying has occurred, resulting in a sounding with essentially no CAPE. Winds aloft remain light and variable.
The 12 UTC WRF-RR (below) forecasts no rainfall across most of southeast Arizona through noon tomorrow. So, basically just another hot day, as record heat continues over much of southern Arizona.
