View of Rincons at 7:25 a MST this morning shows a few low clouds on north side of Mica Mountain.
The high temperature at the airport yesterday was 110 F - ugh. The NWS Forecast Office has issued an Excessive Heat Warning valid through next Thursday for the metro area.
Visible satellite image from 8:00 am this morning (above) shows clear skies over the northern third of the GoC.
Yuma radar (1st tilt - above) however shows strong echoes over northern GoC. The Yuma sounding was not available this morning - figures. The 06 UTC WRF-GFS forecast of the Yuma sounding valid at 8:00 am (below) shows a strong inversion in the surface layer. This inversion is trapping (ducting) the first tilt beam, so that it is returning water echoes from the GoC.
