Mountain Storms

As a weak closed low develops over northern Baja, moisture will gradually increase over southeastern Arizona this afternoon. There are already some mountain storms, as per the 11:30 am MST radar image above. Plumes from the 12 UTC GEFS (below) are for CAPE at the airport - values remain very low and peak tomorrow. The likelihood of storms moving off the mountains will be quite low, given the hostile environment at low elevations. The 11:30 am visible image (second below) shows some buildups, mostly over the Rim and White Mountains, and a small storm over the mountains north-northeast of Benson.

Meanwhile, I have not been following the charts over the Holiday and was not aware that TS Blanca had developed over the Eastern Pacific - this storm is very disorganized as per satellite image from 11:30 am (above). Blanca's track since Sunday afternoon is shown at the bottom. Blanca is expected to weaken rapidly and pose no threat to land.
