There were quite a few severe thunderstorms reported yesterday in the central-Mississippi Valley - see top image. Today's outlook from the SPC indicates a high risk today for additional severe thunderstorms to occur as the central US cold front shifts slowly eastward. This pattern also continues to favor locally heavy rains and flash flooding - particularly in areas where organized storm outflows set up orthogonal to the strong southerly, low-level jet.
