Update 20 July 2012
The NWS at Tucson took an 18 UTC sounding - see above. Steering flow has become nicely established at 15 to 20 kt from the east. CAPE was still small, but GPS PW (below) indicates that the sounding was probably a bit too dry. Thus, situation improving some over lower elevations, with PW approaching 1.5".
Currently storms mostly to the south of Tucson, but airport reporting a shower at 2 pm (composite radar below). A definite upturn relative to last several days.
