Dreary And Cool Day So Far

I guess Mike had other things on his agenda today - I took a quick look at the 12 UTC WRF forecasts. The NAM version forecast a big day in eastern Pima County this afternoon, but had way too much heating and sunshine. The GFS version forecast mostly a down day after the morning activity, and is playing out better up through mid-afternoon.

Has been dreary and cool with some light sprinkles and showers - perfect day to knock back the fire in the Catalinas. Current temperature is still in the upper 80s versus 105 F at this time yesterday! View from campus (above) at 2:34 pm MST shows a bit of blue beginning to show up. Visible satellite image from 2:00 pm below shows convection beginning to develop far to east and west of Tucson. If there are thunderstorms in the area today, they will probably occur very late afternoon or during the night. The jinx of morning showers strikes again.
