Showers moving across parts of Tucson at 7:00 am MST this morning (above), as a strong cold front was moving eastward across the metro area. Photos down at bottom show some new snow in Summerhaven and also at Kitt peak.
The 500 mb low is over northwest Arizona this morning (above) and will move across northern portions of the state today, making for a very unsettled day.
As of 7:20 am precipitation reports were as per: above from ALERT network (with minimum amount reported at 0.04") and below from MesoWest, showing more measurable reports, but with most amounts quite light. Here at house there's 0.03" in the gauge at this time.
Winds at Kitt Peak (above) and Mt. Hopkins (below) have been hitting speeds of 50 to 60 mph during the night.
The 06 UTC WRF-GFS (above) still did not forecast any precipitation south of the Rim Country (as per yesterday also), but the GEFS plumes from 00 UTC (below) were pretty much right on for the airport, although amounts were a bit more than has happened so far. Forecasts today were very similar to those shown in yesterday's post.
