Slight Chance For Showers

Some nice color over the Catalinas just before sunrise this morning (above and bottom).

A 500 mb closed low is over northern California this morning, and this feature will dig southeastward and be over northern Arizona by tomorrow morning (above). The inland trajectory today and tomorrow will make this another moisture-starved system. Thus, we can at best hope for a bit of a chance for light showers. The morning forecast from the NWS for the airport is shown below.

The 06 UTC GEFS ensembles forecast chances for precipitation at the airport (above), but with very light amounts indicated. The P-type forecasts from the same run (below) indicate some chances for flakes mixed with the rain showers. However, the 06 UTC WRF-GFS forecast (second below) indicates no precipitation anywhere in southern half of Arizona. So yet another situation where we will have to wait to learn which models are more accurate.
