Showers In Area This Morning

Clouds scooting north this morning, with showers around the metro, including here a bit ago. Down at bottom is view of courthouse in Prescott with heavy, wet snow before sunrise.

At 500 mb large, closed low over southern California will be moving across Arizona today - note the very cold -32 C temperatures at its core.

Both the 06 UTC WRF-GFS (above) and the GEFS plumes (below) now forecast precipitation for Tucson. The GEFS has about a quarter of an inch for the airport, versus about a tenth for the WRF. But a good start with some rain here already

Second below is WRF on 5.4 km grid showing snow forecast through Sunday morning, with record amounts indicated for parts of Colorado and Wyoming.
